2022 Hunting Application Deadlines

Increasingly many states are moving from over the counter (OTC) tags to a draw/lottery tag system. This can make planning your next hunt an early and a difficult task. We want to make sure that you never miss a deadline again!  We want to give you the most update date information so check back with us to see if there have been any updates.

**Nevada**

You must submit prior to January 31st but can modify before May 9th.

As of 2019, non-residents do not receive a preference when submitting limited quota applications.

Preference points must be purchase at additional cost July 1st – October 31st.

**Colorado**

February 1

Preference point is awarded if you are unsuccessful in drawing your first-choice hunt code or if you apply for a preference point hunt code as your first choice.

You can get two preference points each license year for turkey if you submit an application for each season.

Arizona

February 8

Black Bear & Turkey

Mid-March

Bonus Point System to give additional numbers in the draw.

Unsuccessful draw is rewarded with a bonus point.

**New Mexico**

Oregon has preference point system; you receive a point when apply and do not receive your first choice.

You may also bank points as well using the Point Saver Hunt Numbers.

**Idaho February 15

Idaho does not have a point system.

North Dakota

**Utah February 22

After applying for limited entry permit and you don’t draw you receive a bonus point.

**Washington February 28

Mid-March

As of publishing, this season has been CANCELLED.

Please check back for updates as Wildlife Commission are in ongoing discussions.

If you are from Washington, please reach out to your local Wildlife Commissioner, State Representative, and Governor so your voice maybe heard.

**Wyoming February 28

Moose, Mountian Goat, Sheep

May 5th

The state’s preference points system applies to Sheep & Moose.

You may modify your application before April 15th.

**Utah March 3

Deer Buck, Bull Elk, All Once-in-a-Lifetimes

Mid-May

Bonus point for limited-entry, preference point for deer.

**New Mexico March 16

Antelope, Deer, Elk, Ibex, Javalina, Oryx, Sheep

North Dakota

Elk, Moose, Big Horn Sheep

Mid-April

Elk: Only open to North Dakota Residents.

Elk: Non-residents are able to participate in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Raffle. Contact Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for tickets.

Moose: Only open to North Dakota Residents

Moose: Non-residents may participate in the Game Warden Museum moose license raffle. Contact the nearest game warden for raffle tickets.

Big Horn Sheep: Lottery Draw available to Residents & Non Residents

**Montana April 1

Speical Draw for Deer, Elk

Mid-April

Bonus are given with unsuccessful application. Also, you may purchase at the time of application.

Bonus can be purchased from July 1-September 30th if you did not apply for that species.

Special Landowner Preference Point System for Deer & Elk.

South Dakota

Preference given for unsuccessful draw and can be purchased.

Non-residents must also apply for Mule Deer Stamp if needed, but not rewarded preference for unsuccessful Mule Deer Stamp.

Mid-May

Idaho does not have a point system

**Kentucky April 30

Elk

Kentucky does not have a point system

10% of tags go to Non-Residents

Bonus points are given with unsuccessful application. Also, you may purchase at the time of application.

**California June 2

Draws open April 15th

Tags for elk, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, and premium deer hunts are issued through the big game drawing.

Modified Preference Point system - You may earn one preference point per year, per species, as follows: Deer – earn one preference point if you apply for the premium deer tag drawing but are not drawn for your first choice premium tag. Elk, pronghorn and bighorn sheep – earn one preference point for each species you apply for and was not drawn for the tag.

A Preference Point can be purchase until June 2nd, if you don't apply for a species.

Applicants must continue to annually submit a moose permit application if they wish to retain their past bonus permits and accumulate subsequent bonus points.

Loyalty Points (formally preference points) reward those who continue to participate in Draw Hunt program.

Points are accrued at the Category level when the application is submitted so your participation is rewarded before the drawing is held. They continue to accrue until you are drawn.

2023 Sportsman Statewide Raffle Tags

Residents Only

**Idaho **Opens December 1 2023 Non-Resident Tags for Limited Quota and Capped Tags for Deer, Elk

These tags go extremely quick.

**Alaska December 15th for Fall 2023 & Spring 2024

February 2023

Alaska does not ofer a point system.
